• Visual observation by medical staff to identify cyanosis is essential in clinics. Cyanosis occurs when oxygen levels in the blood are low. Under a suitable light source with a low COI value (COI <3.3), a “normal” and “blueish” skin tone can be observed and assist to detect Cyanosis. The lower the COI value is the better. A light source with a lower COI value is deemed to detect cyanosis better.
